Even before the German Autumn and the premiere of Star Wars, another source of turmoil entered the world: Klaupe. After unsuccessful early music lessons and only moderate success on the piano, it was clear: he needed an electric bass to follow in Cliff Burton’s footsteps on the path of cultivating metallic noise. And so he began – playing the electric guitar. After dabbling in genres such as punk rock (a guitar plastered with stickers) and classical music (for his degree), he returned to his musical roots – death metal – after successfully starting a family. The genre had changed in the meantime. It was supposed to be heavier. So he was glad that, having previously played in standard E and Drop B, he now only had to play in Drop C. In Wiedergænger, his role is to shed light on the thicket of time-signature changes and asymmetrical phrases and to bring in grinding thoughts.
